This story can be as fun or as deep or as fun-and-deep-at-the-same-time as you want it to be. I really like its light touch - who knew that it would feel so natural to get into the head (let alone the shell) of a turtle?Product details

Gregory Turtle the struggle with the shell eBook Shubha Bala Zack Middleton Reviews
The story is excellent. It has subtle message regarding fear and feeling secure. Using Gregory the turtle as a character the author has clearly brought across feelings and mindfulness. I am looking forwaGregory and Lady Turtle in the Valley of the Music Treesrd to more wrtings from this author.

Gregory Turtle & the Struggle With the Shell is a sweet, moving short story. It addresses several big themes (loneliness, love, intimacy, fear, disconnection) through the eyes of our gentle protagonist, Gregory Turtle. Gregory is afraid to sleep in his shell and as a result, suffers from insomnia, struggles with intimacy, suffers isolation and sends himself into a self-imposed exile. What you are reading about is the trials and tribulations of a turtle. But what you feel when reading it is that you are Gregory turtle, or certainly have been Gregory Turtle, for we have all felt lost. The juxtaposition of the kid-friendly plot soundbite with the complexity and suppleness of the language and theme, remind me of watching Spike Jonze's "Where the Wild Things Are" where you are at once reminded of how fanciful life was when you were a kid, but also the depth of sadness and loneliness that was a part of it too. Shubha gives voice to the child still in all of us, struggling with our own shell, in beautiful haunting prose. I highly recommend this story!
Very nice work that takes you deep inside. Thoroughly enjoyed the book. The author came down to the world of turtles while shared the human experience
